Windows 7 SP1 RC Build 7601.17105 Leaked and Available for Download

The first Release Candidate of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) has been leaked and is now available for download in the wild from various illegal third-party sources including BitTorrent trackers.

According to Wzor, Microsoft has wrapped up Windows 7 SP1 RC, a detail which the Redmond company has yet to confirm or deny officially. Still, the Russian site has an impressive history of leaks that proved to be right on the money, and there’s no reason to doubt that the latest bits and information released make any exception to this rule.

According to Wzor, the fully fledged RC of Windows 7 SP1 is Build 6.1.7601.17105.100929-1730, which indicates that the release was signed off on April 29th, almost a month ago. Ahead of Windows 7 SP1 RC Build 6.1.7601.17105.100929-1730 the RC Escrow Build of the service pack’s RC was leaked in the wild and offered for download on peer-to-peer sharing networks.

And just as it was the case with Windows 7 SP1 pre-RC Build 7601.17104, both the 32-bit and the 64-bit flavors of Windows 7 SP1 RC Build 7601.17105 made their way in the wild. The 32-bit version of Build 7601.17105.100929-1730 weighs in at 353 MB and is available in the following languages English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish.

The 64-bit version of Build 7601.17105.100929-1730 is designed as the RC for both Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and is a little larger, namely 644 MB. This release is also available in English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish.

Provided that the software giant has indeed wrapped up the RC for the first upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the company is certainly gearing up to offer the Release Candidate development milestone to testers.

Microsoft hasn’t provided any information related to Windows 7 SP1 RC’s availability or development, but fact is that with events such as the Professional Developers Conference (PDC) 2010 and Tech-Ed Europe 2010 approaching, now would be the right time to start serving the bits to the public.
